The cabins, the lodge, the store, and the restaurant across the street can be described as rustic. My cabin was delightful. It was clean, everything worked perfectly, bed was comfortable, the 658 pillows on the bed were wonderful. I didn't need to use the heater, but the A/C worked great.
The staff were wonderful. It's family run and the manager that I spoke to was the daughter of the manager I had in 2008. They maintain the resort impeccably while keeping its old growth forest charm.
I’ve been coming to Union Creek my whole life and love the area. First time staying in lodge room. The room itself was cute and cozy. Unfortunately the two beds were crawling with Silverfish. It was quite unpleasant knowing these were crawling on the bed I was sleeping in. The map you receive from check in needs to be updated. The game room no longer exists. The store where you check in offered loaner games which helped. I would not call this place a “resort.” Though it is a beautiful area it is nothing like a resort. It would be nice if they provided fire wood for outdoor fire pits. Bring your own wood if you plan on having an outdoor fire. They charge way too much money for their small bundles of wood. Since Aramark has taken over ownership I’ve heard from staff and customers this “resort” has really declined. Be aware that Beckie’s cafe is NOT open for breakfast during tbe winter season. The lodge does NOT provide any kind of continental breakfast. If you’re staying in lodge room I recommend bringing a hot plate and your personal cookware if you’re a breakfast person and cook your own breakfast. There is a microwave and a mini fridge in each room.
This historic lodge exceeded our expectations. We were a little wary of the shared bathrooms, but it wasn't an inconvenience in the slightest (there are sinks in the rooms). The room and bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Beckie's across the street was delicious. A great spot to stay if you're visiting Crater Lake.
The rooms were really cute. I expected it to be outdated, it was not. The front desk was sore friendly and helpful. We were in Cabin 3. It had hot water in the shower, but the pressure was too low for my hair. There is no cell service, but the free WiFi works with a bit of patience. We walked to the nearby Rogue River Gorge. It was a pleasant and relaxing stay.
Escape back to a simpler time in a fairly remote location. No cell service. Limited WiFi (we were pleasantly surprised that it was fairly consistent during our stay). Rustic cabins. In need of updating, yes. But the basics are there. We are …
Definitely not a resort. Beware, lodge rooms all share 2 bathrooms (one toilet and one shower in each). I thought I had missed this on the website but another guest confirmed it was not advertised. We landed here as a “sister hotel” to Crater Lake Lodge, but having stopped by there I can guarantee they are not similar.
On the second day of our 2-night stay there was a power outage. One of the showers had no hot water and while we were grateful to have power thanks to a generator, our room smelled strongly of gas and we were concerned for our health. There is no one on site to help and as noted by other reviewers there is no cell service or wifi to contact anyone.
When we did a check under the bed before leaving, we found a thick layer of dust. Clearly hasn’t been cleaned under there for years.
Location is okay, about 30 mins from Crater Lake.
Restaurant across the street was decent, but hard to get a table one night as it’s the only place in the area and there are nearby campgrounds in addition to Union Creek “Resort”.
Our cabin was so cute and quaint. It had everything we needed and nothing we didn't. The mattress was SO COMFY that I fell asleep instantly and in the morning I just had to check the brand and type (Beautyrest Hospitality). If y'all could let me know the exact specifications that'd be great because I need one!!
Highly recommend a stay at Crater Lake Resort!!
Wow, that bed was from 1964. The room was next to the shared bathroom so no sleep as sound transmits right through the walls. Get the cabins if you have to stay here. I'm never coming back. Great location but DAMN that room sucked!!!
